Last Chance! (Non-Power Top 25)

I'm preparing to produce my Top 25 Non-Power's list for next year.

This isn't an exit poll or a pre-season poll.  This is the pre-draft poll... Since the NBA draft is the deciding factor with some of these star oriented teams.

BUT!  I'm only human, I will admit.  So I'm giving anyone an opportunity to get behind their non-power team and tell me what is going to make them a team to beat next year.

Last Chance... who've I missed?

Last Chance! (Non-Power Top 25)

Richmond

Oral Roberts

Wagner

Southern Illinois, Drake

Saint Louis(in the bottom tier if at all)

Davidson(Curry is returning)

Virginia Commonwealth

Siena

Belmont

Rhode Island(i know we say this evey year, but it might happen so we put it anyway.)

San Diego(Bill Greer is putting up a team that could whip my zags in a few years. Can we trade Few for Greer?)

St. Mary's

UNC-Asheville

Austin Peay

Wright St.

Penn(this is the IVY league son)

This was without Gonzaga and Butler right?

I put these on here so you can decipher between your blog and what you think is true. Some of these you may not want to put on, but there you go. I scouted most of these teams for next year and some you can put for the heck of it. Just let me know when it is complete so i can take a look at it and wafer between itself.

Last Chance! (Non-Power Top 25)

Note: I define a non-power as any team not playing in one of the big six conferences, however any mid-major team that has had a 4 seed or higher in either of the last two NCAA tournaments are also excluded due to strength of program (Memphis, Xavier & Gonzaga).

If these are the guidelines, I think my team will probably be the best team on your list, Texans.  UNLV went 27-8 this past season, and returns all but two players from the roster, including their leading scorer (Wink Adams), their best 3-point shooter (Joe Darger), and their best defender and rebounder (Rene Rougeau).

UNLV loses guard Curtis Terry, but will likely replace him with Memphis transfer Tre'Von Willis.  The big addition, however, is 7-foot center Beas Hamga, a 5-star recruit who redshirted this season, but who, like Willis, has practiced with the team all season.  In addition, since three roster spots opened up during the season (two players were booted off the team and one quit due to lack of minutes), UNLV's bringing in a strong recruiting class as well.

UNLV will be a very experienced, athletic, deep, and big team next season.  It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this team reaches the 30+ win plateau, and makes a deep run in the NCAA's.

The expectations will be just that high.

p.s. Though they seem to be making first round NCAA exits a habit, BYU also returns pretty much everybody from their 27-win team.  The Mountain West Conference should be incredible next year...unquestionably the best the conference has been in its history.
